Natalie never planned to fall in love in college; her focus was on medical school and staying single. But all of that changed after her freshman year at Auburn when she attended a party where Matthew happened to be. They were both too shy to start a conversation, but thanks to a persistent mutual friend, they exchanged numbers… and the rest is history! When Natalie reached out about planning her Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club wedding, I could tell right away she was something special. She had a clear vision: timeless, elegant, and rooted in meaning. I knew we were going to create something beautiful together.
Choosing her ceremony and reception venues came straight from the heart. Natalie grew up attending Florence First United Methodist Church, so it was only fitting to say “I do” surrounded by the place that shaped her childhood.
For the reception, Natalie and Matthew chose Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club. This was a location full of happy memories for Natalie, from childhood swims and family dinners to long summer days on the hill. Since the couple shares a love for boating and the water, the sweeping views of Wilson Lake made it the perfect choice.
Natalie’s vision was crisp, classic, and Southern to the core with elegant touches of blue woven throughout. One of our favorite design moments was the custom bar and soft-seating pillows featuring a floral watercolor print that tied it all together. But, you can’t forget about the monogrammed dance floor and a lakeside cocktail hour with signature drinks and umbrellas for shade. To preserve the view (and that golden Alabama sunset!), we opted for a clear-top tent over the dinner space. It was magic.
Natalie and Matthew put so much heart into every detail. Their invitation suite included vintage stamps with hidden meaning: blueberries for summers spent picking fruit, a bunny to represent her aunt’s house, and William Faulkner for her love of reading.
Her mother handmade oyster shell salt and pepper holders for the tables, and family friends contributed a beautiful collection of brass candlesticks. The silver chalices used during the toasts were a gift from Natalie’s grandparents who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary that same year.
And one of the most enchanting elements was the ceiling installation above the dance floor, inspired by a trip Natalie took to the Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans as a young girl. She remembered the greenery and glowing candles from their holiday decor and had dreamed of recreating it for her own wedding. We brought that vision to life inside the clubhouse, and it made for the most romantic, candlelit celebration.
