One of my favorite places to plan a wedding is Sewanee, Tennessee. Sewanee is up on top of a mountain and is a hidden gem. The architecture of the whole place is just stunning. It has some of the most beautiful outdoor surroundings I’ve ever seen. Many of my brides and grooms have a connection to the University of the South, but even with no connection, the surrounding state parks, beautiful waterfalls, and picturesque views makes this middle Tennessee spot an ideal locale for a wedding. It feels like a destination wedding without obligating your guests to travel too far. There’s a lot of great hiking and scenery and really feels like a retreat. Here are some tips for planning a wedding in Sewanee, Tennessee:
Top Wedding Venues in Sewanee
All Saints Chapel: This stunning chapel located in the middle of campus is an incredible place for a wedding ceremony. It is a super meaningful place to get married whether you’re a graduate of the University of the South or have a family connection.
The Sewanee Inn: Also located on the campus of the University of the South, there are stunning views and breathtaking places to take photos everywhere you look. The hotel can accommodate intimate weddings and larger scale events.

The McGriff Alumni House: Another beautiful campus spot for an event.
The Sewanee Inn: There are a variety of different sized rooms at the Sewanee Inn that are perfect for rehearsal dinners, too.
Where to Stay in Sewanee
The Sewanee Inn has 40 rooms, perfect for a more intimate wedding. There are also several Airbnb rentals close by for additional accommodations.
Activities for Your Guests
There is so much to do in Sewanee. I’ve had couples set up beach volleyball tournaments and book golf for their guests. There are nearby tennis courts, places to canoe or kayak, and plenty of nature trails. The Mountain Goat trail is a great place for walking, biking, or running. Shenanigans is a fun bar for an after party or gathering with friends.
